The Sydney International Regatta Centre.

The Sydney International Regatta Centre is a world class sporting facility for canoeing, rowing and dragon boat racing originally built for the 2000 Olympics.

Since 2001 the regatta centre has used Brook timing and Brook supplier equipment to deliver quality and accurate racing results. The centre uses Finish-Lynx Etherlynx Vision Cameras as their main and back-up cameras at the finish line producing 2,000 frames per second results.

Due to the 2km length of the race it’s common for one race to begin before another ends therefore the centre needed a holistic integrated system capable of handling multiple race data at once.

Solution.

While collaborating with the client Brook Group was able to deliver an easy to use and efficient timing solution that met all their needs. Firstly the RadioLynx wireless start system allows start transmission of all equipment along the 2km course from one location, and sectional Linkpods at every 500 metres allow input of device and data transmission. The Linkpods link all timing equipment along the course to the brains of the system the Timing Device REI 2.

When the timing data has been collected a Photo-Finish Analysing Machine allows multiple finish-line results to be analysed at once ensuring security for every race when multiple races are running simultaneously.

Finally the ResulTV program allows output to the regatta centre video screen displaying results and race information for spectator viewing and entertainment. The video board is encased in an aluminium powder coated enclosure to ensure stability and durability. The front LED’s are coated in an IP-65 protective waterproof mask ensuring the board is protected against water damage and strong weather.

The Brook Group timing solution is integrated with the National Regatta Management Software RP-7 further satisfying the sporting requirements of our client.
